It's an optional 3-day and 2-night leadership conference for incoming first-year students. It's meant to be an early introduction to campus and university life while meeting some of the people who are in the same situation as you, make friends, etc.

"Leadership conference" might sound kinda boring, but horizons is ANYTHING BUT.
It was one of the most amazing experiences of my first year.

You're put in a group of delegates and 3 upper year students as leaders. You take part in tons of cheering, fun activities and you'll get a headstart on getting to know the campus. There is also time set apart in the conference to meet with people in your faculty and people in your res (or SOCS). You get to know so much about the campus, you'll feel so in the loop for Welcome Week!

Sorry this is so long, I just wanted to let you know what a great opportunity and experience Horizons is. It's not mandatory, but I would definitely recommend it! (: Good luck!

anniebananie, Biochem47 all say thanks to jessicalynn for this post.

My group was 8 people last year, they definitely aren't big at all. It's small enough that you all get to know eachother really well (:

Horizons = A Fabulous Experience!
if you are looking for more info and to register, check out https://www.msumcmaster.ca/servicesa...ration2011.htm . You can also email the Coordinator, Jasmine Kochar, at [email protected] .ca. She can answer any questions you have about the conference!

As a past delegate and staff member, I can tell you that this experience is not one to miss! You will not only learn more about the campus and what McMaster has to offer, but also you will learn more about yourself!
