From what I understand, the City of Hamilton said to Mac "Keep your construction trucks off our streets!" and Mac said "Oh yeah? Well take your busses off our campus"

Obviously that's not exactly what happened, but I think that's the jist.

Eeep.
Apparently they're illiterate because it says "DISMOUNT and WALK". Seriously that 2 seconds you spend biking won't save you any time and it'll save a lot of people from getting whacked.

I used to think people who got on the bus at the Mills library only to get off two stops later on Sterling were lazy *******s. Sometimes people wouldnt be able to get on a bus because of those people. Well, I thought that way until I hurt my feet. I somehow pissed off my plantar fascia and walking was painful. The only way for it to get better was to use my feet as little as possible. So I would get on at Mills after a day of school work in the library and get off two stops later. I realized not everyone jumping off the bus after two stops were *******s. This happened recently so you can imagine how pissed off I was at the strike because they had taken away my bus, and made it so the bus didnt come anywhere near my house for when I had to get groceries.
Obviously if you're injured and limping people are a little bit more forgiving. It would be like an elderly person taking the bus a few stops.

But if you're a perfectly healthy individual, then that's when people have issues - especially if the bus is packed.

You aren't allowed to ride a bike on the sidewalk. Riding down Main Street can be intimidating because drivers do not give cyclists the respect they are entitled too. It comes down to you can pass a bike by squeezing by them even though that happens 98% of the time. In my experience if you ride with confidence you can ride pretty much anywhere. Then again I have biked down hills at 50+ km/h on a slick road at night so I may just be crazy.

It may take you longer but going down the side roads may be helpful ie. king or sterling. Also invest in a rear bike light, they are very helpful in a driver seeing you and are only a couple bucks at your local bike store or MEC.

Personally for me, it's not about people getting on the bus at Mills and getting off at Sterling or anywhere in Westdale. It completely depends on the bus.

The beeline is made specifically to get people to further places faster. I have to take the beeline all the way to the furthest edge of Stoney Creek, which can take up to an hour and 45 minutes. It's incredibly annoying when people take the beeline to get off in Westdale, and make me wait even longer for the next beeline (approx. 15 minutes) when they easily could have wait another 2 minutes to catch any other bus.

I don't care if someone takes the King or the 51 or any other bus from Mac to Westdale. I don't blame people for not wanting to walk that far, even if they are perfectly healthy. But it is very ignorant to take the beeline to Westdale. It's not even any faster than any other bus if you're only going to Westdale anyway.

I also get on the bus at mills to get off at haddon. But I only do so if I'm tired and if the bus is conveniently there. Otherwise I can actually walk all the way to Haddon before a bus shows up.
