It is all relative my friend. In CMST the assignments may be shorter but the attention to detail is great. In my year, those that didnt have strong ENGLISH writing skills suffered, whilst those that did fared much better. I can't speak for Peace Studies. Perhaps you can check the course outlines from the past school year and see which is better for you?

As a third year engineering student, I took CMST 1A03. I loved the course, and the workload was minimal if you stayed on top of the readings and assignments. Best of luck.

I think umm "birdiness" depends on the individual student, plus other factors. For example different profs/tas are used at different times.

I know a different professor taught CMST 1A03 this year than when I took it in first year. I've had this professor for a different course but I could not judge how she teaches 1A03 and I don't know what type of assignments she assigned this past year. So therefore my opinion on CMST 1A03 wouldn't be very useful.

As for the actually material of the course some of it can be a little dry, but there's interesting stuff too. If you're interested in Communications it might be a good elective for you.

My only advice would be to look up past syllabuses for the course and check out the work load for yourself and see what you think of the types of assignments, and the material being discussed/assigned for readings.

As for Peace Studies 1A03 as far as I know the same professor I had is still teaching it but I'm not 100% on it. I personally hated the course and would advise people not to take it, but really I can't judge how other individuals would find it. I do know many people who took it with me also disliked it. I've heard the workload changed a bit since I took though.

Finally I would advise you to check out the reviews section of MacInsiders. I believe both of these course have been reviewed and you could read through the reviews and find different opinions on the courses.

Thanks Stefanie.

That was/is why we encourage students to read the reviews of previous students as well as post their own.

The more people who review courses, the better it ends up for those seeking information on the courses.
