Humanities Elective without Essay
I was wondering, are there are any first or second year electives in the faculty of humanities where you don't have to write an essay?

In terms of first year courses, the only ones that come to mind are Linguistics 1A03/1AA3.

Most courses have atleast 1-2 essays to write, ranging anywhere from 1000-4000 words. Some assignments in certain courses, although they give you no limit, they ask you to encirporate certain knowledge in your final assignment, which lengthens your paper. My final paper for Peace Studies 1A03 (ugh, that course was so good), was about 22 pages long.

I actually totally forgot about linguistics

I was gonna say lol. When MI first opened chat, I was only ever online when I was writing essays. Which was pretty much every week lol.

EDIT: Aelya, your paper was 22 pages long?! I'm finishing my paper for that class now (it's due tomorrow) and it's only 1500 words, which is about 5-6 pages. Which prof did you have?

MMEDIA 1A03 - our final website was an "essay" - which wasnt really an essay and our exam was fill in the blank and paragraph answers

MMEDIA 1B03 - no essays at all

It wasn't so much a paper and it was a creative dialogue between two opposing parties (I chose Andrea Dworkin and Ingrid Newkirk) on a mutual issue. There were a crapton of footnotes as well. It was well worth the effort because it turned out well.

Agreed. Most beginner's language courses would have little, if any, essays at all.
