But what happens the following year? You wouldn't be able to bring in your previously bought fridge because it hasn't been maintained or cleaned.

I emailed the residence people when we were informed of this new rule, and this is the email I got in reply today:

"Thank you for your note. I appreciate your perspective on this policy matter and the timing of same. We thought long and hard about this and considered the potential impacts as you have described and took the decision to proceed."

First of all, I'm not quite sure what "the timing of same" means. Somewhat baffling.

More importantly, by thinking "hard and long about this," they have effectively acknowledged my complaint about how they should not be able to unilaterally change the rules on us and still "took the decision to proceed." They have provided no logical refutation of our complaints despite "thinking" about them.

I hope the IRC helps us get rid of this policy asap.

There has been an email account set up to gather student and parent concerns/complaints regarding the COLDEX Fridge Policy. If you have any friends, parents of friends, siblings (or you yourself) who are upset by the implementation of this policy, please urge them to write a letter expressing how they feel about this Policy, how it affects them, and anything else they feel is pertinent to the situation at hand.
