Looking at the site, it seems like TekSavvy has a lot of random extra fees. It's not really 30 bucks a month is it.
Just call Teksavvy and ask what the band rate for your house is. You'll need the address/postal code.

Anyone know whether Teksavvy requires people to rent/buy a modem from them? Bell charges $5/mth for modem rentals and Acanac needs users to purchase a modem from them at a one-time cost of $50. The upside for Acanac is that they apparently only charge $19/mth for usage (one-year term) and don't have bandwidth caps.

TekSavvy requires you to either rent or buy a modem. I think it's around $75 (not cheap :p). I've heard of people getting the Speedtouch 516 they sell for as little as $15 off of ebay though.

If you already own a DSL modem though, that should work too.

It's actually not renting, in the end you will own the modem.

Yes, 75$ is for the cheapest modem and you can by a wireless router. Unless you're the only one using the internet... it only has 1 port.

So with TekSavvy, what's the difference between High Speed DSL and Dry-Loop DSL Services? It seems as though the latter costs more because of the Band Rates.

If you don't have an active phone line you have to use dry-loop.

For the modem you can buy it here for $23 online or in store http://www.canadacomputers.c om/index.php?do=ShowProd uct&cmd=pd&pid=024298 &cid=NTW.896. Keep in mind all you need is a modem teksavvy doesn't require you buy it from them.
