Sure. You need the Cisco Client for wireless internet, but with using a direct connection with a wire works much easier. You can use the ethernet wire in your room and connect it to the 360 and BOOM! You're playing online. I played Smash Bros. Brawl last year this way.

timmyblacks says thanks to mitch for this post.

Regarding ethernet cords, I've been on rez for the past 3 years and they've given one out each time.

Regarding setup:

Kay-Kay, I don't think so, but don't quote me on that. You will likely use DC for everything, so torrents aren't a concern.

Timmyblacks, It's what you need to download to use wireless internet on the MAC campus. It makes sure you're part of the university by logging on using your username and password. See instructions and information HERE

Torrents definitely used to be throttled (I was there for meetings where this was discussed), and I imagine they wouldn't change this since they really do hog the majority of the available bandwidth. But like Mitch said, most people will find exactly what they're looking for on DC++ anyway. New content always makes its way onto it quickly, likely because of those die-hards who don't mind the slow speed of torrent downloads (or if they've found a way around it, which can be quite difficult since I'm pretty sure UTS uses deep packet inspection to do it).

Aside from DC++, does Mac's network support newsgroups?

Torrents aren't that slow, if you set it up correctly. Just make sure you don't go over the 2gb limit per day or your internet will get throttled.

someone said that you shouldnt bring your own router to rez... however...

HE IS WRONG....

bring your router for sure... i had one last year and it was very convenient for me since i could move around anywhere with my laptop...

what the guy said about not bringing one, he was just saying that because someone last year didnt know how to connect one properly and he plugged the wan into the lan which clashed the two DHCP servers with different subnets and it fuked the internet for everyone...

SO as long as you know how to set up your router, BRING IT... :)
