Would definitely be better to hear from previous Kin student applicants or fellow upper year Kins.
However, if I were to give my own opinion, even though you may not have a personal connection with the profs, perhaps approach a prof who has spoken to you many times, knows your name, and whom you've known an interest in class with?
Not sure what to say, academic references are really important. Just think of it this way also: applicant review committee can almost automatically tell the difference between a well-written, personalized letter to a shitty, generalized, letter that does not really show the capabilities, characteristics of the applicant.
Hope that helps? good luck!
