I was wondering if many people at mac have or are planning to buy laptops of various colours? I mean, would it be awkward to walk into the library with such a laptop (i.e. do such laptops look out of the ordinary) or are they pretty common? Also, which laptop colour, if any, is most common among students at mac, and which is the least common?
Dude, it's YOUR laptop. YOUR paying for it! Get what YOU want on it!

And yes, many people have coloured laptops. My boyfriends is green.

I couldn't tell you which is most popular, although I can say that the yellow Dell is freaking ugly.

Laptops are VERY popular on campus, most students have them, so you don't have to worry about sticking out like a sore thumb. Just get the kind of laptop that you want/need and don't worry about it fitting in with everyone elses. If anything you want yours to be as unique as possible that way it does stand out against the rest and people will know that its yours.

My advice to laptop buyers: By the MacBook that fits your budget. Once you go Mac you won't look back...ever. I've used my PC for gaming since I was like 6 years old and dinked around on my Dad's laptops over the years... but it's all a suck-fest compared to the ease of use offered by a MacBook. Simply incredibe.

The $1509 model at furtureshop/best buy is the best value for your money. MacBook pro is great, but if you're not a heavy user there's little point

I have to second McMaxwell on the mac thing. They are awesome. I've always had them so i don't have the switching experience. But i have never had a virus, and my laptop almost never freezes. Plus it's just so much easier to do everything on a mac (i've used pcs at school, and know from my friends who have pcs and always have problems) . And if you're worried about compatibility for some programs you may need for school you can always install windows on your mac with parallels or bootcamp.

You will get a virus eventually as the Mac market gets bigger, rumour has it that a virus for macs was on sale recently by a hacker. Celerons = not worth it, very slow. New mobile processors will be out later in the month. So older models will drop prices. The question is, do you really need a laptop or not? If not, building a desktop will be cheaper and probably heck of a lot faster (quad core).

whether or not you need a laptop depends on how efficiently you take your notes and whether or not they are legible at the end of class. Mine certanly aren't, so I type them out

Don't get a Dell! Just don't! They're really really bad. So many crashes for no reason. It doesn't help that it's Vista as well. Dell + Vista = Fail

Edit: The XPS is not as bad, but don't get an inspiron!

Even if you dont necessarily plan on taking computer-typed notes in class (I don't), I would still consider getting a laptop. I lvoe the flexibility of being able to take in my laptop to class if I want to. Also, I recently switched to a Mac after being brought up on PCs...I HIGHLY recommend it...

I have an Acer Aspire 5500Z and it's certainly not the best model or make of laptop but it does what I need it to do, its really good with not freezing up and it hardly bugs out on me and when it does it's usually something I did wrong.

I have a MacBook Pro. Since the day I got it, I haven't had ANY problems. Nice, user-friendly OS interface, plenty of power/memory/all that jazz. I did end up getting a 500GB external for time machine back ups / movies / tv shows. I have all of MS office on it, and have had ZERO problems with compatibilty at mac.

HIGHLY recommended if you're willing to shell out the money.

I'm looking to buy a MacBook for the multimedia program (well, I'm in Communications right now but wanna make it combined by the end of this year) and I saw something on the Apple Store site where you save up to $300 off Adobe Creative Suite 3.3 with the purchase of a Mac.. so I was wondering if I should get that together or if I don't actually need that whole Creative Suite package for the multimedia program.. would it be cheaper to just geting photoshop and stuff individually? Lol can anyone that's in that program let me know please?

Are we allowed/able to recharge our laptop battiers during classes and lectures? I have 7 straight hours of class on a Monday with a few 10 minutes breaks in between and wanted to use my laptop to take all my notes but doubt the battery will last that long :(
