LED monitor - check signal cable?!
I recently bought an separate monitor to have attachd to my laptop so I could use the new monitor instead looking at the small laptop screen all the time. But today, the monitor screen read "check signal cable". When I rebooted the laptop, the monitor worked fine but my laptop showed nothing and this is during the rebooting process and then the monitor showed the check signal cable icon and my laptop turned on and finished the reboot. what i'm trying to say is that the laptop and monitor don't work at the same time and monitor really doesn't work now. I've reattached the DVI cable three times but still not working. What should I do??!!

LOL i like how fixing the issue requires installing a new OS.
But if its a laptop.

What you want is to find the setting "Projector only" for your video output.
Most laptops have a function button [Fn] that looks like a monitor or something like "lOl".
On my laptop this is [Fn] + [F4]. Other laptops might have a different assignment of this key, but its usually an F key so [Fn] + [F#] will likely fix this.

I also suggest getting Windows 7, as that actually does solve many problems.

I would check the signal cable.

Edit: That's my way of saying I don't know.

Do you have Windows Mobility Center or is that exclusive to Windows 7? D:
