Yes, it can get quite hot, especially facing the field. I was in 249 last year, and it was particularly bad in the spring, since it was hotter than usual. Facing Cootes, you should be fine, but otherwise I would recommend a fan.

As for the friends question, you'll meet a lot of people during Welcome Week from your building, and if you hang around the common rooms you'll see people, too. If you make the effort, you can be just as social, it's just that the need to go to the bathroom isn't forcing you. If you're still worried about not meeting people, join a club or team! Most of my friends at Mac are from fencing; the varsity fencing team gives lessons in the fall, with the possibility of continuing with the team later on. *shameless plug*

I was in 249 and faced the field, so I'm guessing 647 also will.

To my understanding there are two types of closets: the one with the sliding door embedded into the room and the free-standing type with two built-in drawers underneath. Can anyone verify what type of closet the single rooms have?

How many suitcases has everyone packed so far? :$ I'm kind of worried that I'm overloading...so far I have one bed bag, one big suitcase for all my clothes and one suitcase for all the stuff needed for residence (toilet paper, cleaners, toiletries etc.)

That's pretty normal. You'll also have all your school stuff, remember. There will definitely be enough storage space, since in addition to the wardrobe there were drawers built into the beds. I found it a little tricky to store the suitcases, but I just ended up unpacking right away and giving most of the boxes, etc., to my parents to take back home. I kept one small suitcase to bring home with me on weekends.
