Hi,

I took Bio 1A03 with Jacobs/Kajiura/Wilson a few years ago.

Dr. Kajiura is honestly one of the easiest and nicest profs at McMaster, and I think many people would agree with that statement. Dr. Wilson was also very good, although I can't comment on Dr. Zhu.

When it comes to testing, Dr. Kajiura asks questions straight from her lectures. You can do REALLY well on her tests. On the other hand, Dr. Wilson tends to ask more detailed application based questions from what I remember. She was a fair prof and I can't say anything bad about her either.

I always thought there was material for the professor that came from the company that made the textbook and he just showed up to class with the pre-made powerpoints and started talking.

Not really sure if this is true or not, but either way, his slides are completely useless. He also makes the stupidest, most insignificant alterations to the textbook details. For example, he would change "The temperature in this area is high." to "The temperature in this area is MODERATELY high."

And he noticed that 80% of the students stopped coming to his lectures, so to try and entice us to come back, he would only show the titles of the slides for the people who came to the lectures -.-

Honestly, some people just aren't cut out for teaching

Biochem47, UlteriorMtve like this.

I found Kolasa to be pretty straightforward, but the lectures were a little dry for me. His exams were incredibly fair though, and that's something I really appreciated.

As for Kajjura, she's a pretty enthusiastic learner. I preferred learning on my own so I can't really comment on how useful this was, but she is very passionate about the material.

If i could only give you one piece of advice it would be NOT to take Wilson. She pastes slides with all the info, talks at like 200 words a minute, and expects you to write it all down because she WILL test you on the stupidest smallest things. But that was just my experience.
