Life Science Transfer
Hey guys,

I'm currently a first-year Life Science student at UOIT.

I have already submitted my OUAC application to transfer into Life Science at Mac next year, I assume that I won't be granted with a decision until my final marks for this semester are released at the end of April.

I finished first semester with a B average (2.78 on UOIT's 4.3-point scale).

In all likelihood I am going to finish this semester with somewhere between a B+ and A- average.

I've been searching for the minimum average required to get into Life Science 2nd year but all I have found is the minimum high school average (which I already know is usually 88).

I realize that there are a limited number of spots but can anyone in Life Sci give me some insight as to what average (out of 100) I'll need to be accepted?

Thanks in advance!

I believe when you apply for a transfer they look at your high school marks + university marks + the courses you took at high school/university to determine if you're eligible for transfer and if accepted, what year. I wish you the best of luck though! =)

Thanks, I appreciate the response.

My high school marks weren't enough to get me into mac first time around, though I did take each of Calculus, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Does this mean I'm out of luck or might they give more weight to my university marks?

I'm not sure about their policy on transfers, but Level II in Life Science as a McMaster student requires you to have a 6.0 McMaster Average (C+ average). You should contact someone on this site as a reference to be sure.

Also, where did they come up with 4.3 as a scale? If their scaling is that low, then they might as well go with the 4.0 standard. At least McMaster's 12.0 is more understandable, going down by an integer every grade point interval.
