Alright, so if you're like me and you find languages interesting, then you will probably enjoy this course. You cover phonetics, phonology and morphology so I'll just give you a quick review on each of these units.

I knew way too many people who were enrolled in this course for the wrong reasons. It's a very user-friendly course and possible to get a double digit in if you have any interest in learning about the sounds and structure of language.

Just wondering - has anyone ever taken this course with Anderson, C? I'm interested in the course, but not sure how Anderson is as a prof.

Thanks in advance!

I took the course with Dr. Moro, but I have taken a course with Dr. Anderson. She's really friendly and always willing to help. She explains things really well too. As for easiness, I can't really comment, as I would be comparing two very different courses. When I took 1A03, the tests were pretty easy and definitely fair. The tests I took with Dr. Anderson were fair as well.

Dr. Anderson is teaching this course this summer, so hopefully someone from that class will respond, and be a little more helpful for you.

yes there is. I think it was 10% of final grade when I took the course.

no essays just weekly assignments and quizzes. In terms of memorization, there is a lot but they're not overwhelming especially when studying phonetics - you have to remember all the IPA symbols and what they sound like.

I have her this term..
I love her!
She's super energetic, and just absolutely adorable! ..she's always smiling.. haha
She's really clear when explaining, and although I'm in a lecture with about 700 other students, she still manages to answer questions when people put their hands up..
She also puts up powerpoint slides as well as live podcasts from each lecture on avenue...

If you have her for linguistics, don't stress haha.. you're in good hands..

I found the workbook to be more useful than the textbook. Going to lecture and using Moro's slides will be enough. Practicing with the workbook won't hurt either.

I had Dr. Moro for this course. This class is very easy, I just found it really boring! It's basically just memorization and requires some understanding when you move on to the phonology portion, but that's it. It's a nice break from my regular course load as there are no essays, just little assignments and quizzes for tutorial.

I can't say I wouldn't recommend this course, because it is not difficult I just personally did not find it interesting at all. In my opinion, you can definitely get a 10+ at the very least with little effort.
