You don't need a full course load to attend university though. You can always take a summer course or two to catch up if needed.

Annyway, McMaster's system is shit, I think we can all agree on that. I don't know why science always picks last either. It just all contributes to a frustrating time.
Actually 4/5th year science, health sci & eng were the first to pick this year. It changes every year, so it's fair.

And someone was mad that upper years get to choose first, if you think about it, it makes sense. This way, it ensures that upper years take courses that they need/want before graduating whereas lower years can always take the course next year or the year after. If it's a required course, or it's for a minor, you'll likely get a seat opened for you anyways.

Oh, I didn't know it changed every year. I know I was close to last, last year, but I was in a different faculty then.

I guess we could all take these courses in the summer, but I'd rather work and get some cash than die in the summer heat studying.

Why not take upper year courses that are relevant to your major? Learning more skills at younger age! Seems like a steal if you ask me.

Aiieee I'm debating whether or not I should take an upper year course. Is there like a huge difference between the workload and expectations between 2nd and 3rd year? It probably depends on the course though. -__-

Or failing spectacularly since you are not yet equipped to handle the workload, expectations and level of difficulty for those upper year courses.

It's not like you are going to be taking a 4th year course in 2nd year. You can choose a 3rd year course that you have the prereqs for and are interested in!

Yeah, I was thinking about taking an upper year course but then remembered... 9/10 of my courses are required courses. Another required course probably wouldn't be best and on top of that an upper year course >.<

I feel the same

Eh, a lot of 3rd and fourth year courses are considered equivalent in difficulty -- at least in science. The only difference is that fourth year courses tend to be seminars. I can't speak on behalf of other faculties though.

It's also incredibly tiring when you're doing summer school and a full-time job.

tiger says thanks to Lois for this post.

Ahh. I remember my last year of highschool. I did full-time day school, night school and volunteering on weekends. So summer courses + job isn't so bad, it's just too hot. I barely made it out of my house the other day during the heatwave :0

The quest continues for more electives... but they conflict with all of my required courses... ah I love you Mac.
