You can't get a consumed battery replaced under warranty. In order for Apple to cover any battery replacement, in warranty or not, it has to fail a diagnostic. If it doesn't fail, they don't cover it.

The current one came out in April last year. Normally they upgrade each computer every 9-12 months. As long as they keep that pattern, a new one will be coming any time now.

No. For a number of not easy to explain reasons.

The back to school promotion is for any new Apple computer available while the promotion is on. If the new model comes out before or during the promotion, then yes, it will be part of it.

Most likely, yes. They've been doing that for years, and I don't see them changing it now. Just make sure you order it from the education store, not the regular store, when it starts. otherwise you don't get the free iPod or the $100 off the computer.

+1 on the Macbook idea!

I didnt go through the whole thread but i read somewhere about emulators!
You dont necessarily need to get an emulator. Macbooks come with BootCamp as part of the Laptop which allows you to install a copy of windows. Only down side is you will have to restart the computer everytime you want to go in it. But the upside when in WIndows it will be running at 100% as compared to running an 'emulator'/ Virtual Machine

For the emulator, you can either buy one or get the free one. VMware is one name.
Oh and one more thing. Prepare for Apples hater to tell you to get something else...
