Thanks for the support Amara! As a student club our advertising is limited, we can put up posters on the designated bulletin boards around campus, but they are usually cluttered with tons of other stuff. Other options include:
- The MSU's weekly e-mail listserve message which is distributed to over 10,000 students and community members,
- Public service announcements on CFMU 93.3,
- The Silhouette's weekly Info page,
- Listing on the MSU's online events calendar
Of course we'll be trying each of those, but usually the best way to promote is word-of-mouth and during welcome week (Clubsfest) which we have to rely heavily on to bring in new members and awareness. We were very lucky to be mentioned in the Daily News!
As danielle said, we do not have permission to advertise on the McMaster's main website, nor do we have all the e-mails of first-year students so we can't send out messages. (Plus, it would be counted as 'spam' since those students never asked us to e-mail them).
Our best hope is to rely on members like yourself to help spread the word.. so tell your friends, post on Facebook, and let others know we exist
