I don't know... I'd ask an academic advisor before taking a step like that (i.e. not finishing 30 credits in first year), better safe than sorry.

Its from a program specific requirements page though so it may not apply to every program in Humanities but it says:

30 units from the Level I program completed prior to admission into the program
This may not be true of every program though but I found it in the course calendar so just find your major in the course calendar and it will tell you. You have to find your faculty and see which degree programs they offer and click on the requirements for the specific program you want. In there it will say something like above probably, either you will or will not need to have 30 units from your Level 1 program completed prior to admission to the program.

Don't forget you have summer school as an opportunity to bump yourself up to 30 units. (:

True. I also technically took 30 units, though I was unsuccessful in 3 of them.
