Greyhound and Go buses are completely different. And as far as I know, there is no "sticker" for go buses.
From a quick search of the greyhound website, they don't go to Markham.

I commuted for the entire summer school and I'm just going to say it isn't worth it.
On that note, I took the 47 GO Transit bus to York U, transferred on Viva/YRT back to Markham.
It took about 2 1/2 hours. You can also take the GO Train from Unionville GO Station or Centennial GO Station or Mililken GO Station (depending on the place you live closest). Transfer at Union Station to either the GO train or bus to Hamilton.
If there is a strike though, there is no way of getting here without GO Transit, except by going to the Greyhound station in Scarborough (maybe?).

Instead of taking the VIVA back to Markham, try taking the 52/54 at York. It goes to Richmond Hill Centre and Unionville Station and it's much faster than the VIVA. When I took the VIVA, it took me an hour to get to FMP, but with the GO bus it takes me half an hour to get to Unionville station. Just something to consider.
