Mastering biology access - necessary?
Hey all,

I'm looking at whether to buy Biological sciences volume 1/2 new or used and wondering how necessary Mastering Biology access is (I'm doing biology 1M03 and 1A03). I don't want to have to shell out another $50 for the access (it makes buying used not such a good deal). Anyone know if the access code is good for both classes (one each semester) or if there is a separate code for each volume? How useful is it?

Thanks!

It seems they changed up custom courseware again this year? We certainly didn't use them (or even hear of them) last year in Bio1A03 or 1M03.

I wouldn't suggest buying courseware until after you've had your first lecture anyway; you can ask your professor if it is necessary then.

We never used mastering bio when I did first year bios. I wouldn't get it unless the prof says you absolutely need it on the first day.

It's optional, but it's only 3%. I don't think it's worth paying $55 for, we only used it three times last term just for multiple choice questions.

There are animations though which can be helpful, but it is way less useful than Mastering Chemistry.
