Math 1LS3
I think this course was very easy. We started at a very basic level (probably grade 9 math) with the linear equation and moved up from there. The last unit, integration, was the only major new thing but it wasn't too bad.

Your mark was the better of :

4 tests, lowest...

Guys forget about 1L03, 1a03 or 1aa3.

Try 1ZA3, math for engineering. Forget about everything else and look at chapter 11. Stuff in it is harder than anything you do in your science courses.

The infinite series stuff you're referring to is covered in 1AA3. 1A03 covers integration in-depth (I believe 1Z03 / 1Z04 only does the 'power rule'), while 1Z03/1Z04 covers infinite series instead. Overall, the 1Z04-1ZZ5 path covered more formulas in vector calculus last year, while the 1A/1X03-1AA/1XX3-1B03 path covered more linear algebra and theoretical stuff.

It's tailored for the program, but 1st year calculus is, by and large, 1st year calculus.

If you found the 3rd test hard, then yes, unfortunately. There were some tricky conceptual questions about material covered towards the end of the term (integrations and actual calculus) and lots of 'new' questions that weren't seen on previous tests/practice assignments.

I don't mean to stress anyone out or anything... just a heads up to prepare well for this exam lol. I don't know why people say 1LS3 is a bird course... it isn't.

Clements is amazing! She honestly is my favourite prof at mac. She is such a great teacher and is very thorough. Her tests are fairly straight forward as well.

I think giving this course a 10 for easiness is an understatement. I don't think we learned anything new with the exception of one or two integration techniques and cobwebbing! For those who struggle with Math, practicing on the assignments and the textbook problems should be enough to take you to where you want to be as well!

And I second that. Dr. Clements is an amazing professor; she is very friendly and goes through the material in great detail so as to ensure that the student understands the concepts. She seems like one of the professors that really cares about her students' learning

Overall course
This course was easy to follow and the assignments/practice test booklet is very helpful. I recommend buying this booklet because it is a true reflection of the type of questions that will be in the tests and exams.

I had Dr. Lovric and if you've got the choice, definitely go for him. He's got an accent but it's understandable and he goes at a good pace. He answers a lot of questions no matter how dumb they are and he is so cute! (as in old cute) he's funny without trying to be, overall a great prof.

For this course, having a good prof is important because I had friends who had this course the term after me and they had the worst prof ever.. it just makes class worse.

Exam was definitely hard compared to midterms. Don't take it like high school math by not doing work and thinking you can ace it by doing stuff before. Understand stuff along the way and you should be fine

If you took Calculus in high school and understood everything then this course will be an easy 11/12 no question, only new concept is integration which is easy enough in this course (unlike Math 1A03 where they cover integration more intensely).
