I'm in room 210 on the second floor. Not too far, but I'm glad these places have elevators.
Question about the welcome week... I'm a bit foggy as to when welcome week actually begins. We move in on the 5th or 6th, so is the welcome week the week that follows, or is it the week before that?

Welcome Week is from the 5th/6th (depending on the day McKay moves in) until Sunday the 13th. Part of WW overlaps with the beginning of classes (first day of class is Thursday the 10th).

No need to feel bad. We know how first year can be and during move-in you should really relax and have everything sink in. Plus, if you do feel bad you can do the same next year!

Is McKay any good? I was hoping to get the quiet res, but I got McKay on the fifth floor. My parents are trying to decide if they will let me go, or make me live somewhere else (because of all the noise). I'm a very studious person, and I don't know how crazy it will be or hard it will be for me to study there, opposed to if I got a shitty apartment somewhere.

You'll definitely be able to study in residence. It's not the alcohol and party persona that people say it is. You have to understand that everyone else in residence will want to avoid failing as well, so people will be understanding. On top of that, there are quiet hours built specifically for allowing people to sleep and study without excessive noise.
Even still, some people like going to the libraries to study (which are close by to residence), and go to the quiet rooms there.

I was in McKay Hall last year... I was one of those people who really wanted the new res like keys or les prince. But McKay was honestly the best experience of my life and I would not change a thing looking back. Me and my roommate are really good friends now, we had a ton of space and whatnot so we really didn't have anything to get mad at each other for. My whole floor and I became really good friends... it was amazing. And our welcome week reps and cheers were amazing. Just so much fun. If you got McKay then you lucked out.
