Minor in Business?
I'm going into the honors English program and wanted to do a minor in business. I haven't taken math since grade 11, so I was wondering how mathematic economics/commerce courses are/can get in upper years.

economics courses get incredibly mathematical. there's a reason you need calc i and ii and multivariable calc and stuff for econ courses (especially econometrics).

commerce courses turn into accounting, so not particularly hard. just a lot of info.

Pretty sure you only need Econ 1B03 and 1BB3, which don't have any hard math at all so you'll be fine.

Accounting and finance have math too, but nothing hard just basic adding/subtracting/multiplication.

You only need the first year econs for a minor in business, and they require very little math (mostly just common sense).

Upper level econ isn't required, but high school calc is all you need for that (yes, even econometrics requires no prereq higher than high school level calculus).

Math 1M03 is recommended for students minoring in business, but that's only required to take finance (Commerce 2FA3, I believe). If you wanted that particular credit, Econ 2I03 replaces commerce 2FA3.

If you want classes that are less math-y, stick to HR/organizational behaviour/marketing/info systems type classes. You'll be fine.

Why get only a minor in business when you know you won't be able to get a viable job with an English major?

Because some people go to university to study what they love, not something that will supposedly get them a "viable job."
