I didn't go to Horizons, but I did not feel my first year experience compromised in any way because of it. It's very comforting to know people before the year begins and it is a great leadership and learning opportunity, especially as you meet really dedicated upper year delegate leaders, but if you're living on residence and you cannot afford the cost at this point, or even if you're off campus and just get involved in SOCS, I assure you, you will still have a fantastic year if you put yourself out there and try.

Horizons was such an amazing experience. I'd definitely suggest to do it. The first few weeks on campus, even though I had a lot of people from high school go to Mac, I had a whole new group of friends/familiar faces that made the transition that much easier. You meet people from your faculty, and residence.

So definitely, if you have the chance, and are willing to pay the money...GO! You will NOT regret it!

I personally LOVED Horizons. I got to meet a whole bunch of first-years from a lot of different programs and also a lot of upper years. But you're definitely not a disadvantage for not going!

It's a leadership conference for incoming first-year students, called "Horizons" not "Missing Horizons." Anyway, you should've received a brochure in the main, but it might be because of the Canada Post backlog. Here's all the info: https://www.msumcmaster.ca/servicesa...o/overview.htm

Money's not a problem. Its just that there's no one to take me. And I've never been on a bus before.

Now I really really want to go.

I've never been on a bus either before going on the bus alone to attend the Summer Orientation Program. It is a new experience so it is worth a shot. Where do you live because the GO bus may be a feasible option for you.

There's plenty of buses from here. And plenty of overprotective parents.

Where do you live? I remember I took the bus for the first time on Welcome day and trust me, that's definitely something you want to get used to asap! That way, when you want to go home later on, it's nothing new for you! Also, all the GO/Coach people are super friendly and you can ask all the questions you need before you go ! If that's the only problem in front of you, then you should definitely go to Horizons! Don't miss out if you can!
