Multiple Degrees
Who has 2 or more majors? What are they? What are/were the reasons you decided to take that route?

I am doing a Political Science and Communication Studies BA. However, I would like to also try my hand at Commerce or Economics. Although my Poli Sci degreee is global political economy focused I am unsure of if it would help me get into business.

Would going for 3 be a good idea? What alternatives do I have?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Hey Goce!

I'm doing combined honours in Philosophy and Political Science but I'm in process of switching into combined honours in Labour Studies and Political Science.

I did this for the reason that I also wanted to try my hand at something related to business and through Labour Studies you're able to take a few upper year commerce classes. I'm planning to do Labour and Employment Law or something in Industrial Relations so I felt switching was a wise choice.

Maybe consider applying to the minor in Commerce? That might be a good way to get a feel for the program before you commit to doing another major.

Just an FYI:

Commerce won't let you do a double/triple major. If you have a degree, Commerce won't let you into the program. (They say you should do an MBA at that point)

Second Undergraduate Degree
A student with an undergraduate degree will not be admitted or readmitted to either of the Commerce programs. Such a student may wish to apply for admission to the M.B.A. program.

I have two degrees, but they aren't related and I took them at completely different times. I just changed my mind, LOL!

Have you considered doing an MBA? A co-op MBA, in particular.

Thank you all for your input. I have thought about this all day and looked at some of the options. It seems to me that the MBA/LLB degree route is best. Here I come western Canada...in two years.

Cool! I'm thinking of doing a MBA/JD. I thought all law schools were converting to the J.D. Are western universities making the switch soon?

UBC already has and others will likely follow. The JD versus LLB thing is interesting to say the least. Many Canadian law schools are still going with the LLB title though, and that is including some of the best - Victoria, Montreal, etc.

I personally wouldn't go into a law program that doesn't offer a J.D.
