From what I understand, WIND and Mobilicity had to use the band they are both using now, or use CDMA like Public Mobile is using. Also for the people who don't know, WIND Away = Rogers network. |

Wikipedia says something about being able to connect to Rogers Network in GSM mode in some cases. Never happened to me tho.
I wonder whether or not I'd get charged for using their network even if I have Canada-wide calling. |

You would get charged additional fees. Your plan is only valid under the WIND network. As soon as you connect to a Roger's tower you have to pay additional fees. :o |

I thought you could turn off roaming on your phone (at least for Androids) so you shouldn't have to worry to much

Weird. But I never got connected to rogers towers so I wouldn't know. Gotta go scanning trying to find one. |

Depending on what version of Android you're running, and I think depending on your phone a Rogers connection would show up as:
WIND AWAY or 302720
and the normal WIND network would show up as:
WIND HOME or 302490

Yes. The features in your plan are only valid for the monthly bill stated if you are connected to WIND HOME/302490. |

That is why it is cheap. They are building up their network, and nobody would pay them the same as the other providers with only a fraction of their network working

That's balls. That's all I have to say about that. Guess they better improve the existing UMTS network then, so I don't have to go to bathroom everytime I need to text something. |
