The New Quarters Will Be Called "1280"
The New Quarters Will Be Called "1280"
It's been a long debate between what to call the new Quarters restaurant. We polled our members and the name "1280" topped the first poll, the MSU had an official poll and we heard that "1280" and "The Downstairs John" were leading the way, so we held a second unofficial poll and "1280" won again. It seems our members were right on the money because today the MSU VP Education twittered that the name will indeed be "1280".
Thanks to James2255 for the tip.

Finally! I'm happy they settled on that name. Some may not like it, but I think it can grow on you. :]

Yeah, most of us will probably remember it as Quarters. 1280 is a decent name though. Glad they didn't call it Sterling Station lol.

Yay! 1280 isn't as bad as The Downstairs John.. It's pretty decent actually - although I kinda liked "Quarters" .

Yet again they choose the least crappy name... that doesn't make it a good one.

A "hip + modern" name for a "rustic + classy" bar/restaurant/club/kitchen sink.
Well with all the rabble that went on related to the renovations, it's only fitting that Quarters would end up with a name that probably won't fit the physical image of the bar (well, in this crabby geezer's opinion anyway).
Makes perfect sense. In a stupid way.

I don't understand. I asked someone before... if the new place would reflect the new name chosen for it, and they said yes. So I don't understand why they would have a poll in the first place for a "rusty + classic" theme, in which most of the options didn't fit that.
Well, better than Downstairs John I say.

I guess it'll be an easy transition for first-years, but I feel for all you old-timers....
I do like the name 1280, though. Its classy, in a modern way.

In the grand scheme of things however, the name doesn't really matter. If the service/food/alcohol suck, it wouldn't matter if it was still called Quarters.
