Not sure of what courses to take
I'm in environmental science and im planning on switching to life science next year. I was planning on taking these courses but there are some that i can't decide between so maybe you guys could help me

ENVIR SC 1G03
ENVIR SC 1B03
CHEM 1A03
CHEM 1AA3
BIOLOGY 1A03
BIOLOGY 1MO3
MATH 1A03
PHYSICS 1B03 or 1BA3 or 1L03 (i only took grade 11 physics but i just need to take it to get over with and i don't want to take the intro physics course)
PSYCH 1X03
PSYCH 1XX3

that gives me 10 courses but i don't know whether i should be taking MATH 1AA3 as well or if 1A03 is enough. I'm not sure exactly what i want to pursue as a career but im leaving medicine open as an option so im wondering if one semester of calculus is enough.

If you guys could help me choose the physics and whether i should be taking the two maths or not it would be really great. The only reason im taking the two psych courses is because i might want to take more psych courses in level II but if you guys think thats unnecessary please let me know and ill make room for the other math if necessary!

THANKS

and to add to this if MATH 1AA3 is that important, is it really necessary for me to take physics in first year or can i find a way to make it up in the summer maybe?
For enviro sci it says i have to take 4 out of a list of courses and if i take math 1AA3 i dont need to take physics but it says i need it for life sciences so is there any way i can avoid taking physics first year cuz that would be great!

Hey.
I was planning on doing the exact same thing, but ended up in Psych (long story).
The courses you picked are basically what the academic advisor told me to take. And I'm not sure if you need 1AA3 but... if you're 100% sure you don't want to do Enviro Sci anymore you could probably drop one of them (I really didn't like the Enviro Sci courses, personally).

And I'm pretty sure you can take Physics in second year. It's definitely required after that, I think.

Yeah you can definitely do physics in the summer... or even second year.
Psych is awesome

I recommend this:
CHEM 1A03
CHEM 1AA3
BIOLOGY 1A03
BIOLOGY 1MO3
PSYCH 1X03
PSYCH 1XX3 ß- Qualifies you for a whole bunch of Bio Programs, maybe Life Sci II (I didn’t apply to it)
ENVIR SC 1G03
ENVIR SC 1B03
MATH 1A03
PHYSICS 1B03

I above gives you exactly the same as a typical life sci with you two electives used for enviro sci. Drop them if you want, it’s up to you (I don’t know who Envio I works, you might be forced to take them) but not needed. Phys 1BB3 might be a good idea for med, but it can be done whenever. This qualifies you for all the bio programs, the life sci program, the psych program and I -think- the chem programs.

I did Phys 1L03 and then the two 1Bs in the summer (right now). You need Phys 1B03 by the end of Year II for most Life Sci/Bio programs, so you can do the 1L03 if you physics isn't good or forge ahead. I got into all of my choices this year without Phys 1B03 in first year - some of which, like chem bio and biopsych, which are quite competitive.

I seem to remember Physics isn't needed for acceptance into Life Sci II. It has to be completed by the end of second year.
Here's the McMaster page if you're interested.

There ya go!

So don't worry about Physics so much, make sure you get the bios, chem and psychs, though.

Sure, what about it? I'm on and desperately avoiding earth science...

As for actually registering for your courses, no, not yet. First Year Science goes pretty late, June 27th.

It would be a good idea to do it and see which courses work with which. Most of yours will probably run both terms, so you should make mock timetables to make sure nothing conflicts (you will be asked for the course name and which term you want to take it the first time you use SOLAR, picking exact labs and tutorials comes later). Five and five is the best to go.

And you will get them - they reserve seats for people in certain faculties and even if its full, you can ask for a seat by explaining your situation. Besides, first year courses are huge, so don't worry.
