The office of the registrar screwed up? I think?
So, I think somewhere someone screwed up, and I'm not sure if it was my faculty, the registrar's office or a combination of both.

I'm doing a second degree, having graduated with my first HBA in June 2008. I just looked at my grade report and realized that the summer school course I took was included in the CA from my previous degree for some reason (i.e. my CA is out of 126), when it should have been included for my second degree. (so my CA is currently out of 24 when it should be out of 30 [i only took 8 courses this year]).

So I'm trying to figure out who I should contact: my faculty or the registrar. Suggestions?

I would probably suggest starting by contacting your faculty first, because they are the ones that handle your degrees first and foremost. Worst case scenario, they will redirect you to someone else if they can't help you, which may be the registrar.

Hope it gets sorted out!

Is your concern for "Dean's Honour list" purposes? In one year I only had 27 units, but my prior year had 42 (including the summer), so they 'rolled over' the units to calculate, and I still got Dean's Honour List (even though I was concerned I wouldn't). You shouldn't have any problems with this.

And if your concern is moreso the total unit requirement for a 2nd degree (which is 60, right?) and it being misproportioned, then you've got an issue that involves correcting your degree audit.

Such concerns aren't handled by the registrar, and you should see your faculty's academic advisor. (I know I only have great things to say about Science's Academic Advisor! Hopefully other ones follow suit and are equally helpful)

EDIT: Also, be sure that the 6 units you want to transfer is a valid choice for your 2nd degree...ie. you're not over your 48 units of Level I courses or anything like that (it may be different for a 2nd degree, I'm not sure, but you probably do know). It'd really suck if you were denied your degree for a whole year because of something like that!

Thanks!

No, mine is just for getting the credits I need to graduate; I don't want to have to overload because of an error that I did not cause myself.

Unfortunately...I have no idea how the second degree works. And I can't run a degree audit to help me...when I do it just tells me I have lots (like...48 units) of outstanding credits, but they were supposed to transfer over from my previous degree.

Looks like I'll have to send an email...*sigh*. This is one of the few times I wished I was in Hamilton.

Ok, then that confirms that it's simply a matter of updating your degree audit...the Academic Advisor of your faculty can definitely do that for you, possibly even just via email! It seems like a small enough change, that does not require any sort of written permission from a professor, etc. (such as changing departments or getting a course waiver).

I emailed my Advisor back when I wanted to switch from Kin into Math. All I asked for was an appointment, but she said "I'll consider this a formal request to change programs and I'll make the changes right now."
