Orgo Experience
I will be taking Orgo this summer and cant decide where to take it. Can anyone share their experience of taking orgo at another university (york or utm maybe). How long was the course, and was it easier than the orgo offered at mac (if you can tell).

Thanks

Err, if you only need to take CHEM 2OB3, you could do it now. Capretta seems like a great prof.

i think at other universities , it's offered as a 6 credit course so it will last the whole summer and you'll get a credit for chem 2OA3 + 2OB3 . but if you only need to take only 1 of them (3 credits in total) , then i'm pretty sure you can only take it at mac b/c most other universities offer 6-credit courses and not 3 . there's a course equivalent page in the mac website somewhere if u wanna make sure : )

The past 2 years in the summer the Professor has been Dr. Pedrech. She is more than an adequate professor for Organic Chemistry, i enjoyed her teaching style and learned from it fairly good -- her tests were very easy and the exam wasnt too bad with the right amount of studying.

I took orgo at york at this summer and it was equivalent to a 6 credit course and took 3 months to complete. There were two different profs- one of them better than the other. i beliiiieve there were 8 labs, one every other week. the labs weren't too bad but the write-ups did take alot of time and were a bit of a pain. There were 3 tests. The first one wasn't bad but the last two were definately alot harder. you will need to study and practice alot for these tests and do the textbook problems. In the end, the prof bellcurved so that most people passed.
