Orgo Second Year
Any thoughts on doing orgo 2ao3 and 2bo3 during the school year for health sciences (year 2)? Thanks.

It is completely normal to do this...I have no idea what "thoughts" you're going for. Can you be more specific?

its a hard course, but a lot of people do it during the school year. If you are in health science, then I assume you want a high GPA for med school, so I would recommend doing it during the summer or not doing it at all.

I did Organic Chemistry because I needed it to apply to the University of Ottawa for medicine. However, this is not necessary...you could always take a biochemistry course in lieu of that, and in fact this is what many students do.

I enjoyed Organic Chemistry with Harrison and I have to say he is part of the reason why I did so well on the biological sciences part of the MCAT. Well, perhaps I shouldn't say him, but the extent to which his course made me study for sure. That being said, although the organic chemistry might make your MCAT life easier (since schools do care about the BS score a bit more than say the PS score), it is by no means necessary, and most people can pull off a good BS score without extensive studying of organic chemistry.

orgo keeps options open for other professions and states too. its up to you whether you wish to take it in the year or not. tons of peoplpe take it in the year and do just fine and have heavier coursework than healthscis, so you shouldnt have an issue.
