I'm on a grandfathered/retention plan with Rogers:
Unlimited SMS/MMS
CallerID and voicemail
Free Evenings after 5 and weekends beginning Friday
1000 min CA long distance
500 min anytime
6 GB data
I pay $65.

But I hate Rogers. Can Bell or Virgin do any better?

no 4g is dependent on the phone. I believe rogers charges more for LTE data however. One thing 4g does though is make it so i almost never use wifi. 4g is often faster than mcmasters wifi network. I will only use wifi if absolutely necessary (ie videos). Uploading or downloading 60mb off data is pretty common for me. This means i need more data than say 100mb which wouldnt even cover push email for me.

So if I have 3G phone and plan with your provider, and I swim over to Korea, steal a Galaxy S3, and bring that little zergling home, I'll have 4G out the box?

I am with telus and i have found those kind of plans really cheap and good
^This. I've only used $30 since late January. Why get a big plan when you have a laptop and ample Wi-Fi on campus and at home?

I do :$ But mostly cause I commute via go bus and tether to my laptop. So I easily go through 1-2Gigs of data

True, not much you can do without paying a 200$ fine!

Unfortunately not, I suggest waiting for the new iPhone when bell/virgine introduce the 6GB promo.
THen you can get a plan similar to that

35+30 = 65
200 Canada-Wide Anytime Minutes
UNLIMITED Canada-Wide Weekends & Evenings from 5pm
UNLIMITED Canada-Wide Calling to 10 Buddies
UNLIMITED Canada, U.S. & International Text and Picture Messaging
6GB Data.

and then after a 2 years you call retentions and try to get something similar to the play you had with rogers.

Nope, Bell provides 4G LTE on all data plans, you simply need a phone that supports 4G. Rogers only has LTE on certain plans or for an additional price

I'm currently with WIND, and I'm on a promotional plan in which I pay $29/mo + tax for 12 months and then after that I believe it is $45/mo + tax. I get:
Unlimited talk, text and data
Voice mail
Caller I.D.
Call waiting
Call hold
Call conferencing
Call forward
Missed called alerts

hahaha this is jokes! but ya...it would work. BUT ONLY if
1) The phone is unlocked
2) The phone is able to operate on Bell's Network frequency (ie it has the correct antenna)

which carrier does that? Never knew a place with provicne wide minutes.

Mine so far is similar from fido. 25 +tax for 100 minutes, unlim text. Nothing else. I did complain to them cause they promised me if i called from hamilton to mississauga it wouldn't be charged but it did so instead they gave me 1000 long d minutes (essentially 100 since my phone has 100 minutes) per month till the end of my contract

Its with Wind. Its great I how the windzone is all of the GTA including Hamilton so you can call Hamilton - Mississauga and vice versa like its a local call.
