Phys 1L03 vs Econ 1BB3
Which "bird" course to take?

I've already taken Gr 12 physics, and I did pretty well in it, so really, the only reason why i should take physics 1l03 is for a review of gr 12 so that i'm up to date with my physics for physics 1b03 next semester. However, I've been hearing that a good deal of physics 1b03 is a review from high school as well, so i don't know if i should take physics 1l03 only for review.

thinking of taking econ 1bb3 because it's going to be more useful to me (actually going to learn something, and something useful at that), and also because it would count as a soc sci/humanities course, which always helps in the long run (grad/professional school requirements).

anyone want to weigh in with their opinion? thanks

ok well in terms of bird course i would fully recommend that you take physics 1l03 if you taken grade 12 physics cause i did the same thing last year and took it and it honestly is just a big review of grade 12 and is really easy to get a good mark in with a little effort. i didnt really spend much time on the course and i pulled off a great mark. the tutorials are really easy and you have a "quiz " in each tutorial but everyone literally cheats for that (5 M/C questions and you get like 20 minutes XD)
if you did grade 12 physicz and found it good/not too hard then take this 1L03 if you want a great easy mark

what about econ though, i've heard about that being really easy too, and i'm getting more out of it than just an easy mark

Econ's easy, but it'll definitely require some effort. Unlike Physics and as you mentioned, you will be learning materials that's (presumably) brand-new to you. While it's not hard to pick up, if you don't keep up to some degree you might be in for a surprise.

That being said, I'd recommend Econ for the sake of your education. While it's likely you'll get a better mark in Physics, the point of electives is to broaden the range of your education and if you're going to be paying for school, you might as well be paying to learn something new.

Also, 1B03 is a tad easier than 1BB3, but I thought 1BB3 was marginally more useful.

I was thinking along the same lines. I keep thinking I'm doing myself a disservice by taking Physics 1L03, if the only upshot is a brush up for Physics 1B03, especially when I could be spending $500 on a course that would actually have some real value for me.

As for the surprise bit, I doubt I'm gonna treat the course very lightly. I'm still going to study for it, do my readings etc. The course would be harder than Physics 1L03, but judging by its reputation, it shouldn't be a significant addition to my course load.

I'm taking Econ 1bb3 yeah... lol

i'v taken both courses, and got pretty good marks in both, but for physics 1L03, i had never taken any physics in highschool, not even grade 11, and still did well. if you have gr 11 and 12, you'll do great in 1L03!
