Many TA's are just going back to work. I'm both a TA and a student at this school. I don't like that the CUPE strike is affecting my classes, so why would I do that to the students I teach. I mean, logically, it just doesn't make sense. That's why I'm back at work. I mean, I affect the education of a huge # of students with what I do, why would I screw them over. Its just immoral to me.
The disappointing fact is that CUPE has not been democratic. Rather than taking the matter of calling a strike to their members to vote upon, the 'higher ups at CUPE' called it anyways. This is the most disappointing part of the whole thing.
Also, the fact that they are disrupting traffic etc does nothing for them. The little flyers end up getting thrown out and honestly, appealing to the students who you are screwing over is unlikely to work.
So yeah, basically, CUPE's strategies seem a little counterproductive.
