Why not? it's every single species' primary focus in life to continue the survival of their species, humans are no exception. I fail to see why you'd wish mass extinction on people, quite frankly.

How is that selfish logic? People have thought for thousands of years that the world was a cold, heartless place that was going to end the next day. And yet they still had children. In fact, if they didn't have children, none of us would be here today. So I'm not going to not have children just because people still think the world is a cold, heartless place, and we're all going to die tomorrow. People are going to continue to think that until mankind dies off because that's what humans always seem to think. So I'm sorry if I'm not going to allow other people's opinions and perceptions put me off having children one day.
On top of that, while the world does suck, my life doesn't and I work damn hard to try and make life enjoyable for others. Hopefully I'll be able to teach my children to be the same way, and if enough people have children who grow up that way, maybe life will be better a thousand years from now.
So NowHere, I have a question for you: If you think this world is a dying, cold place, what are you doing about it besides wondering whether or not you should have children one day?

a) That reproducing is somehow selfish, then explain why you feel this way. Even though you don't find all the pleasures in life that is not to say your progeny won't.
b) that your selfishness of pushing your dismal world view on people is reason for mass extinction, then explain why things would be better without the human race.

Forgive me, initially I did not bold the text I was referring to. Humans destroyed the earth, is not their existence selfish?

Quite frankly the earth is still here, and with adjustments to the way we do things can easily be fixed. Scientists estimate the world can sustain 2 billion humans with no long term environmental damage. If a world wide one child policy was enacted the world's population would be down to an acceptable range in only 2 generations!

Do you believe the earth has benefited from our existence?

What she's tellng you, however, is that it is frustrating trying to talk to you because:
1) You never give satisfactory answers. Ever.
2) You make it seem like none of us really care about the world and we want to make babies anyway. We know what the world is like, and we're all prepared to help our kids live in it.

Do you believe the world serves any purpose other than to sustain life? In the end the world is just a really nice rock that serves the function of sustaining life. Do you believe your chair benefits from you sitting on it? Not really, but at least it's fulfilling its purpose.

They had no effect on me, I haven't seen anyone else consider any of your ideas and you're not saying anything original. So what exactly are you doing?
