Is it possible to drop McWork job?
I got one McWork job at McMaster, but the problem is I have to commute from Mississauga every day; thereby I have to spend 300 bucks as travel expense. So I would like to switch to a different job at Mississauga, if I get any.
So if I signed the sheet at the beginning of the McWork job, that mean I cannot drop the job within summer?

i highly suggest you keep the job until you find another...It is very hard for students to find a job these days and the experience/reference you will gain from your McWork position will help you in the future.
But if you really want to quit, then you are allowed to leave...though it will look badly on your part and may affec your future McWork job status

Thanks a lot for the advice. But how does it affect my future job at McMaster? Because, if I do well on the interview and if the place where I'm applying selects me then how does me leaving this job will affect it?

i believe i read somewhere that if you are fired from a mcwork position or leave before the end date then that will be on your record when you apply for future mcwork positions

It shows that you aren't trustful, they would pick someone else over you because there would be a greater chance of you leaving compared to them since you've already left before.

First thing you do when looking for a job is check the location and figure out how you would get to that job if you get it. Leaving a job because you realized how much the communte costs is not professional at all, but they cant force you to keep the job. Just tell them you found something closer to home and tell them asap because theres no point in training you if you will leave when you find a new job and then they have to train another person.

Yo, what are you doing, srsly.
There are sublets you can get for less than 300!!! Go live near mac, save time, independent, and work at mac.
Edit: this does not save you 300 but gives you a decent alternative to commuting!

That's monthly though, I believe 300$ would be for the entire summer to commute. So that would cost even more money, not to mention utilities (if they aren't included) and food.

$300 a month for commute is what the going rate would be. It DEF. would not be the entire summer.
A monthly pass from kitchener is >300, going from grimsby will cost me $200/mth.

Oh, I was only taking into account GO transit because that's all I use, that would be less than 300$ from Toronto.
Wait a second... why did I think it was the whole summer >.< Lol

You are allowed to quit, but I would strongly advice against it. McWork jobs are good experience, and it's hard to find any other jobs right now.
To put it in perspective, I had a McWork job last summer on campus, and I had to spend about $260 for travel expenses as well. And I only lived on the east side of Hamilton!! Right now, I am working several hours from home. :(
So I would say scrounge up the $300 (per month or for the entire summer, whichever it is) and keep the McWork job.
