Problem with my HP’s battery
Hey guys, so there’s a problem with my laptops battery..

Few months ago I noticed that sometimes my battery doesn’t charge even though its plugged in. when I took my laptop to best buy they did a 15 minute check+full scan and said that there’s nothing wrong with my laptop. I kept arguing with them about how sometimes it doesn’t charge but they kept saying nothing is wrong with your laptop…

The problem went away after a while, but something else happened…I have been noticing lately that my battery’s % availably stays the same for a long time..like it doesn’t move , it just stays at 45 or 82% for a long time. Today it was stuck at 65% for a long time, when I unplugged the charger it went down to 29% instantly !!

As you guys can see, there’s a problem with my laptops battery. Did any of you experience that before? Do you think the problem is with HP, or with other brands as well ??

Thanks for your time guys!! any help/advise is appreciated

That happened to me last year, and it was the adapter's problem. However, you said yours gets 'stuck' at a particular percentage, so I cant' really say anything about that, since that didn't happen to me, thankfully. o___o

Mine was a Dell, btw.

Dell > HP. Try re-calibrating your battery through the BIOS menu when booting?

My friend had that issue. Nothing worked, so he just needed an outlet because his laptop never went above (or below) 4%. If it still works fine, just get used to having it plugged in. Or buy a new battery.

I had the issue with my computer not charging when it was plugged in, i got a new adaptor and that fixed it, but then a few months later it started again, I sent it in to get fixed, at best buy also, i had the warranty, when i sent it in to be fixed they said something was wrong with the pin that the chords goes with in the computer. I sent it in, they tried to fix it, instead the wiped my entire hard drive and still couldnt fix the problem, I ended up getting a brand new computer out of it because they couldnt figure out what was wrong. I suggest taking it back, if you still have it under warranty especially.

Try calibrating the battery, if you laptop is older (more then a year) then this should help correct the battery amount

If not, then there is something else wrong with your computer that may be wrong with the battery, the adapter or maybe the power supply

Maybe he meant not to remove the battery, plug in the computer, and reinsert the battery? :s

Haha, that makes more sense.. its what every laptop manual I've ever gotten has told me.

I was imagining some person trying to charge their battery with AAs... ('DC power')

when ur on ac power, u should remove the battery on ur laptop. when ur battery is full and ur on ac powr at the same time, it kills the battery life. Why? Idk it just does. didnt they say they fixed this? Maybe i still dont trust them

Most well designed laptops have a way of regulating their charging so overcharging doesn't occur.

If you drew a venn diagram of well designed laptops and HP laptops, you will not find much overlap though...
