Programming
I was just wondering what are some people's experience with programming in first year, and in programming in general. Specifically, if you struggle with programming, what are some of the reasons you think are the cause, and on the other end, if you liked programming, what was it that you liked about it?

For example, I know a lot of people hated programming in first year programming, and I also heard a bunch of different reasons why, such as the course being too fast paced, or they just didn't feel suited to do programming, whereas some people really liked it and took to it naturally because they found it so logical.

I generally struggle with learning function programming languages. I don't know why but their concept is difficult to comprehend.

I mean, I started with Java, and then picked up C++ in minutes.

Trying to pick up Haskell is a mission.

In some cases its worth the elegance and brevity of code. There are some interesting things that you can learn from functional languages and then apply them to oop languages. Plus, at the rate the professors are pushing Haskell, it might be all the university will teach in a few years.
