Psych 1x03 Or History 1bo3?
I know history has a lot of essay writing but I'm wondering exactly how much?! I don't think I am going to like Psych so I might drop it and pick up history as an elective. I am a commerce student and I'm having trouble finding a better elective for me that isnt full!!

thanks again,

thanks again,
I have history 1b03 next semester but right now I'm in 1a03. Its the counterpart of 1b03. There is a lot of essay writing. There are 2 short papers (3 pages each) each worth 15%. One is a primary source study and the other is a 2nd primary source study. Then there is the final research paer which is 6-7 pages and worth 25%. But there is no midterm.

I have to say though, the reading is extensive. I've taken English classes before so I'm used to reading a lot, but I never thought there'd be this much reading in a history class. We have to read individual chapters of the history text a week (30 pages roughly at minimum), a play, and 3 essays for tutorial discussion a week. The essays are different each week. They are around 30-40 pages total for all of them. So its really a lot of work in that sense. I find the text pretty interesting though, and even though I haven't started the play yet (Dr. Faustus), it also looks interesting.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

personally i would recommend that you take psych 1x03, that is the course i took last year and it is really interesting and worth taking. its not a bird course and might take a bit of effort on your part but if you keep up with the online lectures and go to tutorials (very easy marks) you'll pull off a pretty high average, its all M/C for mid term and exam and you learn about a lot of cool things that actually relate to of life

psych is reallly interesting and easy to get high marks if you put a little bit of work in.

I got a great mark in History 1B03 with a little work and, as a counterpoint to the above posters, I did very poorly in Psych 1X03. I probably put in 2 to 3 times the work for that class studying for the exams. I did not test well at all. I walked out of the mid-term wondering if I'd watched the correct videos.
