PSYCH 1X03 Textbook Question
The textbook listing says:

PSYCH 1X03/1N03 INTRODUCTORY PSYCHOLOGY OFFICIAL COURSE HANDBOOK FALL 2014
This item (Custom Coursepack) is Required and is located in the Main Store

Since it says "FALL 2014" does it mean the handbook would be different from last year's?
Is it okay to use handbooks from last year?

Thanks in advance.

It depends on the professor and year. It's always best to wait until the first week of school and see what the prof says about updates to the courseware and such before you can make up your mind and buy it, because they're not refundable at the book store, only textbooks are.

The handbook is really just an aid for note-taking. I personally didn't need it, and did really well in the course despite not having it. You should get the textbook though since there are readings that have to be done every week and questions from the textbook appear on the weekly quizzes and final exam. I got an older edition of the textbook and it wasn't a big difference.

Hi,

I am going to take Psych 1X03 but in the textbook list I don't have handbook listed in mine it just says: CUST: DISCOVER PSYCHOLOGY VOL1 ESSENTIALS READINGS 2104 -2015. Is the handbook only for 1N03?

I think you're checking your book list wrong, or there's a bug in the website. I just checked the website, putting in psych 1X03 into the course list, and it returns "PSYCH 1X03/1N03 INTRODUCTORY PSYCHOLOGY OFFICIAL COURSE HANDBOOK FALL 2014"
Psych 1X03 definitely has the courseware. I didn't see the volume that you were referring to at all.

Thanks starfish, yes there was definitely something wrong with the website, I checked again nd now it comes up with: PSYCH 1X03/1N03 INTRODUCTORY PSYCHOLOGY OFFICIAL COURSE HANDBOOK FALL 2014
And
PSYCH 1X03/1N03 CONESTOGA INTRODUCTORY PSYCHOLOGY OFFICIAL COURSE HANDBOOK FALL 2014

They are both required, but I just want to make sure, by handbook you mean textbook right?

Sorry - I have been having some trouble stripping the Conestoga book from the listings.
Choose sections DAY ALL or EVE ALL

There are two books required.

CUST: DISCOVER PSYCHOLOGY VOL1 ESSENTIALS READINGS 2104 -2015

PSYCH 1X03/1N03 INTRODUCTORY PSYCHOLOGY OFFICIAL COURSE HANDBOOK FALL 2014

As a general rule the coursepacks are updated and content tweaked each year.

No they aren't both required - you wouldn't need the conestoga one unless you're at conestoga (in which case you wouldn't need the other one).

Courseware is a bit different from a textbook - it's custom made rather than from the publisher, may contain a compilation of things from various sources, assignments, etc, and the return rules are different than for textbooks (I don't think you can return courseware).

Edit: I never saw the CUST: DISCOVER PSYCHOLOGY book when I checked the website.

Your are right - the Conestoga listing was a mistake and I have removed it from the listings (sorry guys).

Yes. Courseware is a custom made product and is non-refundable and we also can not carry or buyback any used custom courseware. The copyright that is obtained when publishing a courseware is only good for the semester.

Hi,

Thank you very much, I'm going to check the website again and see if those two required books show up.
I just hope my other subjects' list are correct.

Let me know if you see any course listings that have wrong profs missing sections etc.

If there is any weirdness anywhere in the site please report it and we'll get on fixing it right away.
