Psych during summer school
Hi,

I am thinking of taking Psych 1X03 during summer school.

I know that there are two terms to the summer term. Do any of you guys know if they offer it both terms?

Yep, it's probably offered only in the first term so people can take XX3 in the second term if they want.

According to the timetable for 2011, 1x03 was term 1 evening, and 1xx3 was term 2 day.

How was the course overall btw? Did you guys find it easy? Too much workload?

I remember most of the course was guessing. That's probably because I wasn't very good at applying the knowledge, which is essentially what you have to do for 100% of the questions. I found it to be pretty challenging :(.

Surprisingly, though I'm a science student, I found x03 much easier than xx3 (I did better in x03 as well). But most science students I know found xx3 better.

workload wise, it was ok. It's just web lectures with weekly quizzes and assignments but i found the exams were insanely hard (i failed both midterm and final but did pretty decent on the quizzes and assignments)

since i took it in summer school, there was more work every week because of how short the term is.

I took psych 1x03 in my summer after second year. I am a commerce student but I took biology in grade 11 and 12 and found that made a huge difference. My friend who did not take biology in high school had a much harder time. It is a good elective to take but consider whether you have any experience with science courses previously first (:

I'm taking psych cuz it's mandatory in 3rd year :S I wanted to lighten up my course load since I won't have a free summer in my upper years (I'm in MedRad) And I did take bio in grade 11 and 12 so hopefully that will help haha

It might be a good idea to take 2 courses during summer (since your in med rad, eliminate the science elective + random elective). Since psych probably requires a lot of science knowledge, by the end of year 2 i'm sure you'll be better prepared versus taking it right off the bat to get it out of the way. You don't have to listen to me though...this is just what i'd do

If you're a science student (a good one anyway), this course will be a breeze. You'll definitely get 10+ if you don't procrastinate

Good luck!

1x03 has very little to do with science, so I'm assuming you mean the attributes that sciencey people have (memorizers, critical thinkers) is why you say they will do well.

muons likes this.
