Question: McMaster Bursary and the Full Payment Option.
If I choose the full payment option and pay on Sept. 1st, am I still eligible for a McMaster Bursary once it is available for application on September 15? I'm asking this because it wouldn't make sense if the university gives me money if I already paid the tuition in full.

you are still eligible. Its just how they work, its werid. i didn't get it at first, and i still dont' actually, but if that's how they do things, then oh well. If you do get the McMaster Busary, they will write you a cheque and mail it to you

A lot of the bursaries come from alumni donations and the main fundraising campaign is throughout the summer.. I think maybe that's why the bursaries are processed in oct. because they have to collect all the monies and such.

it should not affect it at all. i rmb first year all my friends pretty much got similar amounts. when you apply they will ask you some questions and i think those are what determine if you will get it or not.

I believe that they get a lot of the information they need from yoru OSAP application (which is why if you haven't filled out OSAP, you need to fill out a special application and submit it, you can't just fill out the few questions the students with OSAP get to). But pretty basic info about you. Nothing about your parents' income or your own. Your field and a bit about how involved you are I believe...

it just took like 30 secs to do it. haha. it was so short. prb 15 questions? and it was just picking stuff from optoins or filling in one word answers.
Just asked about what you are involved in at school (prb some of the busaries depend on how involved you are and leadership stuff)
stuff like that. it was really simple.. and prb your OSAP application that they will get to look at (they will ask you for your approval).

During my first year i got $1600 , second year i got $1000. I hope it doesn't decrease again this year..... lol

thanks..didn't know the bursary application deadline wasn't out yet..
but under the payment agreement do we need to select a special funding option to be considered for the bursary?..
i was thinking about McMaster Tuition Assistance..?..do i need to select dat or any other option?

no you don't need to select it. b/c you won't get acccess to the busary application before you pay for tuition. You will prb just simply get a cheque if you get a busary in the end if you've paid off everything already.

Hi there,

Where can we find this application? For bursaries??

I filled out the bursary application on MUGSI and it said I didn't qualify because I don't qualify for OSAP (income related).

Is this the same thing or different?

Bursary applications are those that are available on MUGSI. The bursaries are mainly to fund students "with highest financial need". You're supposed to try getting OSAP first, and then access the bursary. If you are really strained for money you can talk to Student Loans in GH/120.
