Received TEST message from school's alert system - not sure what to do ..
I just received a test message from Mac's alert system on my cellphone. It says:


"Everbridge Test - 3 Feb
This is a test of the alert system. Siren testing also today at 2:20pm. See Daily News. To confirm: reply with 'YES' and send."


What am I confirming - that I got the message? Why does that matter? I'm kind of confused. It costs me 25 cents to send a text message and I only have 30 cents on my phone so I don't want to waste it if I don't need to.

i think they just want confirmation that enough people know that it's only a test...probably not a big deal if you don't reply

They sent me the same text 3 times so hopefully they'll work on that glitch in the system.

thats interesting because I didn't get any text or email...
and I'm signed up for it... when I go into the area in MUGSI for it...it doesn't give me an option to sign up, only to remove the number I have there now...

so it would seem that I'm signed up for them, but didn't get anything

I got a text and because I have a prepaid text plan I sent them back a text to confirm. However, it apparently didn't go through, as my cellphone told me "delivery failed".

My friend also got three texts, but I only got two. I guess the system needs some work.

hmmm....It's weird how everyone got different things...I got three text messages (10 minutes apart) and two emails. I guess they still have some kinks to work out.

I also got three emails but no text (which I signed up for). Looks like they'll need to do some more testing on this.
