I can't remember exactly, but you just choose what semester to have your class on June 29th. Then in August, they release your personal timetables (so they automatically assign you to a lecture/tutorial/labs), but you'll have the option to select different cores/sections for your classes which correspond to different times.

You get a 7-day period to just pick the courses you want and the term you want them in (if they're offered in both terms). Once SOLAR opens later, that's when you can change around the times for cores, tutorials and labs- after your timetable has been randomly generated.
