Reinstatement Question
Hi everyone, I just have a couple questions regarding my reinstatement application this month.

I was in social sciences for my 1st year and was planning to go into Economics for my 2nd year before I was kicked out.
The requirements of getting into Econ: "Completion of any Level I program with a Cumulative Average of at least 3.5 and an average of at least 4.0 in ECON 1B03 and 1BB3."

I did receive the required marks for the ECON courses, but my cumulative avg is of course lower than the minimum, I also failed 1 course that year so I have a total of 27 credits from my first year.

I just want to know if I am applying to be reinstated back into my first year social sciences or into 2nd year Economics?

Also.. this past year I took two courses while attending Ryerson, I did pretty well in 1 course but not so well in the other, would it be best not to include it in the letter or possibly mention one and not the other?just curious as to know what the smartest option would be..

Thanks in advance!

1st point

Being a reinstatement recipient, I'm going to tell you that you should reinstate back into level 1 of social sciences since they will wipe your GPA and keep any courses (no marks) that you did well on. I suggest you dont waste your reinstatement and ask to go into Level 2 econ.

2nd point.

Social Sciences is very large and difficult program to reinstate into because of the large amount of students that are accepted each year. So if you do not get reinstated, understand that your potential spot was handed over to a high school with a 85%+ average or a reinstated student that had marks that showed their exceptional devotion to school (B+ or higher).

3rd point.

I reinstated with a full year of college under my belt and a 3.64/4 CGPA along with a professors recommendation.

Take this information with a grain of salt since I reinstated back in 2010.

Good luck!

Don't they want supporting documentation? You can't send a partial transcript.

Without knowing your reasons for failing out to begin with, or what your marks in the Ryerson courses actually were, it's hard to say how much it would help or hurt your application. "Pretty well" and "not so well" are extremely subjective.

I don't think you have a choice - I'm pretty sure you have to submit transcripts from any academic work undertaken since you left McMaster.
