Relocating within residence
Hi,

I'm currently staying in residence, and have paid my residence fees up until the end of this academic term (I'm an exchange student, leaving mac then).
Whilst I like living in residence, I'm not entirely happy with the specific room I'm in.
I thought I would just put up with it as I'm only here for 3 more months, but it's proving a bit more difficult than I thought, and so I thought I would try to find out what can be done sooner rather than later.

So, is anyone aware of the policies and procedures in place for people who want to relocate to another room?
Is it even possible?
I wouldn't really mind moving buildings, but I guess it would be easier to just move to another room within the same building, so there is no difference in fees or anything.

Any help much appreciated!

Why don't you talk to your CA?

You should talk to your CA or residence manager.
However, they will want to try other options to solve the problem(s) first. Relocating is not always possible (since there aren't always spaces) and it's only used as a last resort if things are really bad and not able to be solved other ways. I have heard of it happening, so it's not impossible, but it's a fairly lengthy process.

talk to your ca and/or res manager. it is unlikely you will be moved. moving within res is very rare. the reason being you not liking your room isnt good enough. your ca and res manager will help explain some stuff to you but dont expect a move.

Moving is definitely possible, but you have to have a valid reason. I had a conflict with my roommate that was not able to be fixed (culture barriers) and she ended up moving to a different residence. Talk with your CA and RM.

If you only have three months there, moving would be almost pointless as you wouldnt have the situation resolved before October, and by then you are already half way through your term.
You have yet to inform us, what are the reasons for wanting to change rooms? Having an idea of the circumstances would help people in giving you proper advice suited to your situation
