I heard that I would get sick in rez, but I didnt think it would happen so soon. I've already got the flu :( It's not even flu season yet! Does anyone else have the flu?

Sorry guys but everyone's getting sick and its not just the flu. It happens every year when you suddenly put thousands of people together on campus and a good bunch of them are run down from Welcome Week. Reps share colds like they're candy. I'm STILL sick from Welcome Week and two of my housemates have come down with stuff, it's just the way it works on campus. When the weather gets really cold and wet we'll have another round. Just eat properly: 3 meals a day, makesure you have breakie, keep up with the fluids and if you want to you can take a daily vitamin.

ya and drink loads of fluids. Water is ok but if you can drink something thats high in vitatmins and nutrtion the better. When I notice a cold or flu symptons coming on I start drinking down the cranberry juice/water. Believe me it helps

I've had a cold ever since the second day of Welcome Week. The cold developed into headaches and coughing. Now I have a fever, sore throat, stuffy nose, sneezing, dry cough, headaches and hell, I was even hallucinating the other day. I went to the nurse and she said it might be an extreme case of allergies or maybe because of the poor air quality here and gave me some Reactin. She told me to use it for a week and if that doesn't work out, I should go back and she'll try to figure out what the problem is. But yeah, I've been missing a few classes because of this. I couldn't even get off my bed :( I'm feeling better now though.

I agree, it's something to do with the concentration of people not used to living on their own.
I recently got whatever's going around but was able to shake it off in only a few days. I recommend drinking a TON of tea (Green + Honey-Lemon), avoid staying in dense places (MUSC, Commons, etc.) for long as they seemed to be at some points halls FULL of people coughing, etc.
I'd also recommend FRUIT. Apples, bananas, whatever. When first coming here I found I ate everything but fruits. Vitamin C + goodness etcetera = better immune system. If you're a drinker it would also be wise to ease up till you get better as all alcohol does is poison you in a sense.
One more thing was that I picked up hand sanitizer. I never got into this germ-freak habit back home, but when thinking about how many hands I've shaken, and how many doors I've touched, it now makes sense to use it through the day.
So those are my health tips! "To look after one's body is to look after one's mind"...or however that quote went. Enjoy.

I managed to stay relatively healthy on Welcome Week (though I had the last remnants of an eariler cold) but a new one just hit me like a sledgehammer last night. I'm doing everything I can to kill it soon, 'cause with Wallingford's size, I could potentially pass it to the entire building o_O;;;;
