Upgraded me to a whopping 2 mb/s. D:

Damn! I want to stick my ethernet cable into that port.

Speaking of which, where on campus can you do this while not being on resident? WIFI is so bad sometimes...

I too was experiencing some godawful speeds just the other day. Reseting the modem and power-cycling the router did not help.

It appears to be fine now though. Blame Cogeco's wiring system; if your street is full of heavy users, it affects you as well.

Well, just called them, dude was absolutely ****ing useless.

"Is it slow just at certain times of the day?"
"No, all the time."

"What website are you using to test your speed?"
"speedtest.net" (cuz it really ****ing matters)

"Have you tried connecting directly to the modem?"
"Yep, same speeds."
"oh okay..."

"Well I'll send a ticket to the maintenance and hopefully you'll hear something back back Tuesday"
"/facepalm irl"

etc

Didn't even suggest resetting the modem or anything, too bad I already did it anyways.

Been going on since last Sunday for us...

On a side note, the speed just dropped by 100% after calling them...

Cogeco has their own speedtest app btw.

So next time tell them you used their speedtest and still got those ridiculously low speeds.
Also, just another thought, if your router is wireless, is it password protected? (i.e. no one stealing your internet)

Yep, it is. And I reset it this morning with a different password, just in case.

I've been having this problem as well...unplugging/re-plugging in the modem sometimes helps for a little while.

Maybe it's because I'm a fat ****ing cow and have pretty severe anger issues, but I find it extremely difficult to keep calm when trying to tell someone "I highly doubt it's a specific program on my computer ****ing up my internet when it's a) happening to EVERYONE in my house and b) it's happening to people around Hamilton."

So maybe you can give it a shot? n_n

only problem I've been having with Cogeco is the occasional 'disconnect', but because it isn't wireless (I can't be bothered with that shite), all I have to do is go to Network and hit disable then enable once and all is good *shrug*
