I've never played these sports before because my high school never offered them, but will they accept new players if they are fit enough?

If your playing for a UNIVERSITY team, I would think you need to be experienced in the sport. I doubt a coach would want to have to teach the entire sport to a player.. but good luck none the less in your efforts.

Check out rowing at clubsfest tomorrow, and there a number of other random sports there. Faculties tend to hold sports teams as well, so ask around to see if there's an inter-mural or whatever going for your faculty.
