Attention Students Registered in Science 1A00

We would like you to know that the online course, Science 1A00 – Introduction to Health and Safety, is now available on the new [email protected] site (ELM) which can be found at https://elm.mcmaster.ca. ELM is an online learning tool which links to courses you are taking which have an online component; including useful information provided by your professors or entire courses online, like Science 1A00.

To get started with Science 1A00:

1) Go to https://elm.mcmaster.ca
2) Log in using your MacID
3) Select the “COURSES” tab at the top of the screen.
4) Click on the “2009 Fall (T1) SCIENCE/ENGINEER 1A00: SAFETY TRAINING” course.
5) Review the materials posted for the course.
6) Once you feel prepared, take the quiz. Please note: this must be completed by September 16, 2009.

You must achieve at least 12 out of 14 on the quiz to pass. If you do not achieve this, you can retake the test as many times as needed.

This course must be completed before you attend any of your labs in the fall and, therefore, you must complete the course by September 16, 2009. Grades will be submitted before labs begin, so if you have not completed the course by September 16, 2009, you will receive an “F” in the course, and you will not be allowed to attend any of your labs. If you receive an “F” in the course, you must complete the course immediately to be admitted to your labs.

If you have any questions about Science 1A00 or anything else, please use our new Science Online Support webpage at www.science.mcmaster. ca/sos.

Sincerely,

Associate Dean of Science (Studies) Office

Suffice it to say, it is mostly general safety in regards to dangerous chemicals. Most questions should be general knowledge, with a few Mac-specific questions. I am not too sure though how many people could not guess the correct answer to: "In the state of a fire alarm, how should you react". With the given multiple choice answers, the quiz is almost trivial to anyone who has experienced some type of exposure to chemicals, and the safety thereof.

Yeah, it's basically just common sense.

Yeah, sumit, because we all know they want to lose 3 000 kids' $$$. That is a myth that the lazy kids who can't handle the work make up because they are drop outs.

Haha, we're gonna pay soon anyway, it's in like a week-ish, so they'll have the money soon anyway , and then fail the engineers
